About CRN

 

John Holland manages the prestigious Country Regional Network (CRN) which makes us the first accredited private rail transport operator of a government owned heavy rail network in NSW, and one of only three accredited managers of public rail infrastructure in the State. The scope involves the operation, management and upgrade of country railway lines across NSW including 2,700km of operational freight and passenger lines, and 3,100km of non-operational lines.

About the Role

 

We are currently looking for a Bridge Examiner to join our CRN team. The successful candidate will have knowledge of structures (build material, decay mechanisms, forces, interactions & lifecycles) as well as experience with construction systems.  The role will have a home base in Bathurst.

The role requires significant travel throughout the network working an 8 days on 6 days of roster. This is a wages role suiting candidates with a structural trade background.

Responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Husband a suite of Structural Assets throughout their lifecycle to ensure: they are fit for purpose, have maximum lifespan and provide value for money
  • Examine structures principally: rail underbridges, road overbridges and culverts
  • Maintain compliance to ensure structures are examined and reported on within accepted timeframes
  • Report on inspection findings and load inspections into Asset Database, (Maximo and WorkCentre)
  • Prioritise Structures repairs and provide advice regarding refurbishment and renewals
  • Respond appropriately to public complaints in a timely and conscientious manner
  • Undertake minor repairs to structures as required
  • Supervise Contractors working within the Corridor
  • Provide Protection Officer duties when requested
  • Participate in an on-call Roster within the Examiner Group
  • Scope and Plan Projects for inclusion in the Annual Works Plan
