About The Project

 

John Holland have been awarded to deliver the Parramatta light rail stage 2 - Enabling works project, the first part of this $322 million contract consists of the construction of the first 1.3km of new light rail alignment, including a 320m bridge over the Parramatta River between Melrose Park and Wentworth Point. Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 – Main Works will connect Stage 1 and the Parramatta CBD to Sydney Olympic Park via Camellia, Rydalmere, Ermington, Melrose Park and Wentworth Point.

About The Role


The primary duties of a cost planner will be to Plan and administer subcontractor and materials costs for assigned projects and report on contract progress. 

 

Responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Prepare Bill of Quantities and specifications for projects
  • Undertake cost planning, cost analysis, site measurements for progress payments and variations which occur on site
  • Report on job progress and cost control to the Project Manager
  • Prepare progress claims to clients for payments of work done
  • Check and prepare for authorisation, payments to subcontractors and major suppliers
  • Liaise with and provide input to purchasing and site procurement requirements
  • Liaise with Project Managers and designers for cost benefit analysis of designs options 
  • Coordinate Subcontract package set-up
  • Vet analysis and recommendation of preferred subcontractors
  • Assist in the capture and development of data for variation / EOT claims 
  • Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have

 

  • Tertiary or Trade Qualifications in Construction, Engineering, Science, Quantity Surveying and/or Project/Construction Management
  • Proficient Construction experience within cost planning 
  • Advanced skills in estimating computer software packages 
  • Advanced financial management skills
