About the Role

The role of Engineering Lead – Project Start Up is essential in coordinating high-performing Design and Engineering Management resources and positioning John Holland as a market leader in the design and delivery of critical Infrastructure projects. 

 

Responsibilities of the role include

  • Initiate early engagement with key project staff and introduce the JH IMS Design Management and Construction Management fundamentals.
  • Ensure John Holland can successfully execute projects through the application of John Holland Engineering and Design Management policies, procedures and principles.
  • Share and explain Design Management examples of best practice (e.g. management plans and tracking tools)
  • Support project staff in understanding and implementing the requirements of the Design Management Manual during the Project Launch Phase.
  • Assist in project/tender launch to ensure teams and systems are set up for success
  • Ensure contracts are established and scopes and roles are well defined and clear for all design and engineering works
  • Ensure lessons learned from other JH projects are being shared and interrogated for opportunities for future improvement. 

 

What we are looking for

  • Tertiary Qualification in Construction or Engineering / Chartered Professional Engineer 
  • 10-15 years in technical management roles on significant projects
  • Broad range of multi-discipline project experience in design and construction, including major or complex projects ­
  • Proven commercial and legislative compliance skills and design frameworks and systems ­
  • Proven successful engineering and/or design management of multidisciplinary projects and project teams ­
  • Experienced management and mentorship of teams in the establishment of best practise processes to ensure the safe and successful outcome 
  • ­ Strong stakeholder management and relationships with major design partners ­
  • Successful Engineering Management of AUD >$500M projects
