About John Holland

At John Holland, our purpose is simple – we transform lives with everything we do.

We’ve always known that infrastructure is about people — our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we work every day.

That’s our difference. Deep experience and capability with a genuine care about creating better lives for people along the way.

Be part of the team that’s up for the challenge of transforming lives for good.

Are you up for the challenge?

We’re looking for an accomplished senior leader who is ready to take the reins of our national Quality function and shape its future. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the rollout and embedment of a refreshed strategy, bringing clarity, consistency, and impact to some of Australia’s most iconic construction projects. Reporting to the Group General Manager - Project Services, you’ll mentor a team of passionate professionals and drive the development of systems and initiatives that go beyond compliance to deliver real, measurable improvement.

You’ll have the opportunity to build frameworks, guide operational execution, and foster collaboration across a complex, high-performing environment. If you’re known for your ability to influence, lead with purpose, and bring people on the journey, this could be your next big move. We’re flexible on location between Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and looking for someone who combines technical depth with energy, clarity, and a genuine passion for leadership.

What you will do;

As the General Manager Quality, you will ensure our Quality Management System is efficient, fit for purpose, and implemented across projects. You will manage annual external audits and certification processes to ensure ISO9001 certification, own Quality Audits for the business, and provide reporting and analysis on audit completion and findings. You will establish auditor and document control competency requirements, provide training, and conduct audits for all Major Projects twice per year. Additionally, you will launch Document Control on projects.

You will review and approve or reject new project digital systems for construction and quality, and act as the Business Owner of PPW, Aconex, and Quality OMS, managing and improving templates, configurations, and workflows to ensure consistency. You will develop standard PowerBI reporting and deliver systems usage training.

You will curate, promote, and drive the completion of Quality and Technical Lessons, and issue Quality Alerts. You will develop, review, and issue ETNs to Business Units, develop and publish standard ITPs for Client Specifications and Australian Standards, and deliver Quality Management Training for Quality and Engineering personnel. You will provide standard reporting on NCRs, develop annual targets for Technical Training courses based on NCR and defect data, and provide input into Technical training courses developed by the Training Academy.

You will develop enterprise dashboards and identify technical focus areas based on defects and NCRs. You will schedule and deliver Monthly Quality Webinars, scope and deliver Annual Quality Awards and other Quality Communications Strategy activities, and set requirements for Quality Leadership Walks.

What we are looking for;

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, Building, Construction, Quality Management or similar
  • QMS Lead Auditor Qualification
  • Wide ranging comprehensive generalist quality management experience including a major project from start to completion
  • Quality assurance experience gained within the construction, transport or related industries.
  • Experience in developing and managing project QA management systems from start to completion
  • Project management and leadership experience
  • Demonstrated application and understanding of Risk Management and Audit Management practices
