About the Role
As Governance and Management Systems Specialist, you will lead the development, implementation and continual improvement of John Holland's Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability (HSES) governance framework, integrated management systems and compliance programs. This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
You will help ensure John Holland meets legislative, regulatory and certification requirements while supporting consistent, effective and efficient operational performance across the business. You will provide governance oversight, maintain the integrity of the HSES elements of the Integrated Management System (IMS), support executive governance forums, and ensure governance processes align with strategic business objectives and industry best practice.
What you will do
- Develop, implement and continually improve John Holland’s HSES Governance Framework, ensuring governance documentation remains current, practical and aligned to organisational strategy.
- Own and maintain the HSES elements of the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, Comcare WHS and FSC accreditation requirements.
- Develop, review and maintain enterprise HSES policies, standards, procedures and guidance material, driving consistency across the business.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, assess organisational impacts and coordinate implementation and communication of changes across the business.
- Coordinate HSE and Sustainability governance committee activities, including governance papers, reporting, actions and governance support to senior leadership.
- Lead enterprise management review and document control processes, including compliance reporting, continual improvement recommendations and governance of controlled documentation.
What we are looking for
- AQF Level 7 qualification in OHS (or similar) and ICAM Lead Investigator certification.
- Extensive HSE experience within large, complex organisations, ideally across the construction, infrastructure or civil sectors.
- Expert understanding of incident investigations, with the ability to lead complex investigations.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, risk management and problem-solving capability, coupled with a high attention to detail. - Excellent written communication and procedure writing skills, with strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability.
- Knowledge of WHS and environmental legislation, OHS and environmental management systems, and the FSC accreditation scheme
