As a result of continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects across New South Wales, we are seeking Expressions of Interest from candidates with limited experience for an upcoming Heavy Lift role as part of our Sydney based Lift & Shift team.
This opportunity is suited to candidates at the early stages of their career who are seeking to develop technical capability in heavy lift design, lift planning and operational construction support within a structured and well supported environment.
Working at John Holland
You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced Lift & Shift Engineers, Designers and Specialists, supporting the planning and the delivery of lifting operations on some of Australia’s largest and most complex construction projects.

In this role, you will assist with the preparation of lift studies and associated documentation, participate in design reviews, and support construction teams by contributing to safe, compliant and cost-effective lifting solutions. Over time, you will progressively develop your technical skills, industry knowledge and confidence under the guidance of senior team members.
A structured development pathway will be provided, including training and mentoring
About You

- A candidate with early career construction or lifting exposure seeking to transition into a design focused role
You will also demonstrate:
- A developing understanding of lifting operations, cranes, rigging and associated equipment

- Basic drafting skills and commitment to further developing knowledge of AutoCAD and crane specific software for lift planning
- Ability to read and interpret design documentation and follow established procedures and instructions
- Strong attention to detail, a safety focused and risk management mindset, and a proactive approach to learning
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
