Job Number:  12741
Location:

Sydney, NSW, AU, 2009

About John Holland

We’re all about transforming lives by finding solutions to complex challenges. We do that by providing leading design, engineering, construction and asset operations, across infrastructure, transport, building and property in Australia and New Zealand.

From the epic, to the intimate, everything we do improves life for someone, somewhere. It gives our business momentum and means we approach things a little differently.

While our competitors talk about what they do, we focus on why we do it. We transform communities to make them easier to move around, more connected and better to live in.

Are you up for the challenge?

We are currently looking for a social impact champion to join our team in the role of Indigenous & Social Inclusion Senior Advisor (National).

Based out of either our Sydney or Melbourne office, and reporting to the Group Manager Social Impact, you will work together with business units and projects (rail, transport, building, infrastructure) and other key internal and external stakeholders to bring our purpose of Transforming Lives to life by contributing to social, economic and cultural growth of John Holland and the industry, and creating a positive legacy in the communities in which we operate.

About the Role

This role will see you working to support the development and implementation of culturally inclusive strategies, activities and processes that facilitate participation in employment, training and procurement opportunities, and create positive outcomes for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people and other disadvantaged cohorts.

Key accountabilities:

  • Work in partnership with the RAP working group to plan, facilitate, implement, monitor, measure and evaluate RAP deliverables, including stakeholder management and influencing across business units (rail, transport, building, infrastructure), corporate and projects.
  • Work in partnership with key business stakeholders to assist in the development of supply chain diversity through facilitation of relationships with Indigenous businesses / suppliers, social enterprises, external recruitment, employment and training organisations, and relevant industry bodies.
  • Influence and support internally to increase spend and engagement with Indigenous businesses and social enterprises.
  • Facilitate training and education programs to increase business understanding of Indigenous affairs and cultural competency.
  • Drive engagement with Executive leaders on enterprise-wide initiatives and opportunities
  • Support the coordination of events and celebrations of Indigenous cultural significance including NAIDOC Week and National Reconciliation Week
  • Support the business to develop, implement and maintain social procurement and inclusion strategies and processes
  • Provide strategic support to business units and other key stakeholders in the tender and delivery of indigenous, social procurement and inclusion obligations, including early engagement strategies with community leads and key stakeholders when required.

About You

You will have previously worked in a similar position and gained significant exposure to diversity and inclusion programs.  Your extensive experience in Indigenous employment, training and community engagement, as well as in supplier diversity development, will see you succeed in this role.

Exceptional relationship building, influencing and communication skills and an ability to work independently within a dynamic and fast paced environment is essential.

Knowledge of current government policies and requirements in the construction industry and tender process is highly desirable.

As part of the team, you help us deliver on our promise to transform lives.

Your success is reflected in ours, so we’re committed to being an employer of choice. We pride ourselves on having a diverse and inclusive workplace, as different perspectives and ideas will deliver our long-term success.

We’ll do all we can to help you develop your skills, and make a difference, right from the start. We have a flexible workplace and focus on all aspects of your physical and mental health and safety. We want you to be with us for the long-term, so providing you with rich career experiences and ongoing development is our priority.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified persons are strongly encouraged to apply for this role.
