Internal Communications Manager

John Holland has been transforming lives for 70 years.

We are currently working on the majority of Australia’s major infrastructure and building projects, and our business has almost doubled in size in the last few years. That’s why we are after a talented Senior Internal Communications Manager to help guide the strategic direction for key business areas and inspire employees with creative and impactful internal campaigns.

About the role

As Senior Manager Internal Communications, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction and execution of employee communications with a specific focus on the People & Culture team and our Health, Safety and Wellbeing team, as well as broader corporate communications responsibilities including driving change and reform initiatives. You will work in partnership with key stakeholders across the business including our senior executives.

Reporting into the General Manager of Corporate Affairs, you will work within a team of high-performing, energetic and fun communications professionals, and ensure your work is shaping our brand voice and is integrated across our media, social media and marketing channels.

As a passionate storyteller, you are also creative about how we tell stories – from timing, channels and format – to ensure your campaigns resonate with employees. You also look for new and interesting ways to engage employees on our strategy, vision and priorities.

You will drive our internal social platform, Workplace by Facebook, that connects our diverse workforce across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. You will be responsible for creative content generation as well as find joy in reporting on the data, trends and analytics of this successful channel.

You are highly organised, enthusiastic and have an excellent eye for detail. You are comfortable balancing complex strategic work with day-to-day execution. You love working in a team and learning about the different communications disciplines from your colleagues.

To be considered you should have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • An enthusiastic attitude and be a team player
  • Strong digital skills: create engaging content, understand the platforms and data and find new ways to enhance our digital channels
  • Experience driving change and reform initiatives
  • Proven experience working with senior executives and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce
  • 6+ years’ experience, preferably working in internal communications for a large or complex organisation

From Parliament House to the Alice to Darwin Rail Link, from the MCG’s Great Southern Stand to Sydney Metro, we’ve had a hand in the Australia we all know today. We are currently involved in delivering all of Australia’s largest infrastructure projects. Whatever we face, the heart of what we do is creating people-centred solutions to complex challenges and opportunities. We think deeply about what we do and how it affects communities. We push boundaries and innovate, gain trust through our actions and whatever the project, we’re in it for the long, long term.

We work hard to attract and retain the best employees, and we provide opportunities for rich career experiences, and a strong framework for ongoing career development.
