Responsibilities of the role
We are currently looking for an Operations Quality Manager for our Rail Business Unit who'll drive the effective implementation of quality management systems, strategies and initiatives to ensure improvements, statutory and contractual compliance with quality for the business and projects.
- Ensure that JHG IMS Manuals, Procedures and Digital Systems are rolled out on all projects within their remit. Drive and participate-in the launch process to this end.
- Review and approve/reject requests to vary the JHG IMS and Digital Systems on JVs and Alliances.
- Review and approve/reject Project Quality-related Plans and specific procedures.
- Provide operational quality guidance, diligence, consistency and discipline to staff within their area to ensure all quality objectives and targets are met.
- Provide specialist quality advice and input to regional and specialist business units and projects during tendering, project planning and project delivery.
- Mentor, support and provide guidance for the selection, engagement, and development of Project Quality personnel.
- Represent Rail in National Quality Initiatives.
- Establish and run a Quality Working Group for their area/business unit
- Work with the Rail SLT to shape and drive the John Holland Quality Strategy and demonstrate leadership in implementing the strategy in their area.
- Measure and analyse process outcomes and identify opportunities for delivering improvement. Work with their business and the wider Quality team to identify and initiate localised quality improvement initiatives and influence business unit and project ownership.
- Develop and obtain approval for a Project - and Business- Audit Schedule for the area within their remit. Execute audits, report and close-out actions. Report to the Rail SLT.
- Assist their projects with developing lessons learnt case studies and with disseminating knowledge.
- Deliver training and coaching to Quality and Operations Personnel to ensure competency in Quality processes.
- Undertake quality investigations and reporting for class 1 and 2 non-conformances/quality events.
- Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures
What we are looking for
- Degree in Engineering, Science, Building, Construction, Quality Management or similar
- QMS Lead Auditor Qualification
- 5+ years generalist quality management experience ideally within Rail projects $100m plus as well as having held a lead position from start to completion.
- Quality assurance experience gained within the construction, transport or related industries.
- Experience in developing and managing project QA management systems from start to completion
- Project management and leadership experience (2-3 years)
- Risk Management practices (2-3years)
- Audit Management practices (2-3 years)
