About John Holland
At John Holland, our purpose is simple – we transform lives with everything we do.
We’ve always known that infrastructure is about people — our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we work every day.
That’s our difference. Deep experience and capability with a genuine care about creating better lives for people along the way.
Be part of the team that’s up for the challenge of transforming lives for good.
Are you up for the challenge?
We are currently seeking a Project Training Support Advisor to support the implementation and ongoing management of competency management systems and project training processes across John Holland’s projects.
This role supports effective training and competency outcomes by providing system support, training and competency advice, administration, and audit coordination, while ensuring compliance with training standards, client requirements and regulatory obligations.
You will work closely with project teams as part of our national Training Academy team in a collaborative, fast‑moving environment where no two days or projects are the same.
This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
About the Role
- Provide direct support to the Project Training Support Lead and the Senior CMS & Training Advisor in implementing and supporting 3DSafety on projects.
- Act as the initial point of contact for resolving ad hoc project-based queries related to 3DSafety functionality, troubleshooting, and general advice.
- Support project teams in the onboarding of personnel into 3DSafety, where required, and provide user training to ensure effective system utilisation.
- Assist with administrative tasks associated with 3DSafety, such as user setup and data entry, configuration changes/updates, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
- Coordinate and manage audit schedules for the team, ensuring timely execution and alignment with project and organisational requirements. Where required, follow up on audit outcomes where actions are required and ensure they’re closed out.
- As required, collaborate with system vendors and internal teams to support troubleshooting and minor system-related issues.
- Manage training app users and permissions, ensuring appropriate access levels and adherence to security protocols.
- Provide guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders in the use of the training app, including troubleshooting issues and offering training and guidance as required.
- Monitor app usage and identify areas for improvement, escalating recommendations to the Project Training Support Lead.
- Support the integration of training app functionality into project workflows, ensuring seamless operation and effective utilisation.
- Serve as the first line of support for project teams, providing advice on apprenticeships and traineeships, and training and competency requirements, including compliance and alignment with John Holland’s IMS, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with the implementation of Workforce Development, Training & Competency Management Plans, ensuring alignment with project-specific needs and timelines.
- Administer updates to the project-based competency matrix as required.
- Maintain and update project-specific competency matrices to ensure alignment with regulatory changes, Integrated Management System (IMS) updates, project requirements, and industry best practices. Work closely with the Project Training Support Lead and Senior CMS & Training Advisor to ensure the matrices remain accurate, compliant, and relevant to evolving needs.
- Communicate changes to competency matrices effectively to project teams and stakeholders, ensuring proper adoption and understanding.
- Actively contribute to the Project Training Support team’s overall deliverables by assisting with reporting, administration, troubleshooting tasks, and audit coordination as required.
- Establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including project teams, training professionals, vendors, and industry bodies, to ensure seamless communication and support.
- Work collaboratively with other teams within the Training Academy to align efforts and ensure consistency in training standards and processes.
- Identify opportunities for improving training processes, competency frameworks, system utilisation, and training app functionality, escalating recommendations to the Project Training Support Lead.
