Title:  Safety Manager

An opportunity exists for an experienced Safety Manager to join our Waterloo Underground Station project team, based in Sydney. The role will report to the Project Director, and you’ll be responsible for implementing and controlling Safety Management requirements, strategies and initiatives across a workplace and report progress to the Project Director and Project Leadership team.

Primary Responsibilities of the role include:


  • Guide and support the Project Leadership Team to develop and implement a safety culture that aligns to the company vision, including adequate development and training in safety critical roles
  • Ensure the project maintains robust risk management processes, capability, focus and discipline related to safety
  • Initiate and administer safety improvement, education and compliance programs
  • Align region and workplace Safety & Workers Compensation strategies with relevant JHG business plans and assist workplaces to implement them
  • Investigate all causes of events on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences
  • Coordinate and provide day to day specialist support to internal stakeholders including the Project Leadership team, employees, contractors, clients and visitors during the project lifecycle
  • Develop and guide project safety professionals to ensure day to day specialist project support
  • Ensure the project understands and have the tools to meet their regulatory and legal safety obligations
  • Maintain comprehensive safety records, manage statutory reporting requirements and monitor safety performance progress
  • Monthly client reporting


To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • Advanced Diploma Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Safety lead Auditor Qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Safety, Environmental, Project Management or other associated disciplines
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience working within a Project Safety Manager role within the Construction & Engineering industry.
