We are looking for an experienced Senior Environment & Sustainability Advisor to join the national Infrastructure business unit. Based at our head office in Melbourne the role will be responsible for enhancing sustainability and environmental performance and ensuring compliance across the Infrastructure business unit.

 

Responsibilities of the role include;

  • Provide operational environmental and sustainability guidance, diligence, consistency and discipline to business leaders to drive a culture of best practice.
  • Ensure John Holland adopts robust due diligence and risk management processes and understands and meets its regulatory and legal environmental obligations.
  • Promote the understanding of opportunities related to sustainability, ensuring well balanced long-term decision making is consistently applied
  • Ensure the BU and projects adopt John Holland systems, strategies, policies, objectives and targets from concept planning through to design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance to meet customer requirements and help increase profit and market share
  • Audit, analyse, report and communicate to senior management and operational staff members.
  • Support the tender process by providing environmental and sustainability technical input to EOI, RFPs and tenders
  • Ensure the necessary support (including resources of suitable levels of competence) is available for the effective implementation of project and BU environmental and sustainability requirements


To be successful in this key role, you must have;

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability or other associated disciplines
  • Sound understanding of sustainability and environmental principles and application within the construction industry
  • Construction sustainability & environmental management (8+ years)
  • Understanding of Federal, State and local environmental statutes and legislation
  • Understanding of sustainability rating schemes and standards
  • Knowledge of tender requirements, project planning, development, implementation and review.
  • Ability to lead high level investigations involving multiple internal and external parties.
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative environmental risk assessment and development of risk controls and actions involved in the delivery and implementation of projects.
