About the role


We are looking for a Senior People Advisor / People Manager to join the NSW Building business to cover parental leave until January 2027. The purpose of the position is provide strategic and operational support to the Senior Management team and projects, which will include providing leadership and guidance relating to all human resource matters such as recruitment, training and development, performance management industrial relations, payroll, workplace health and safety, and other HR matters. 

Responsibilities of the role include

  • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary actions, redundancies and grievance procedures\Contribute to the development and implementation of HR strategies that align with company goals and objectives, identifying and addressing HR risks and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Partner with the business and Resourcing team, engaging in the resource identification and recruitment process
  • Proactively manage and communicate both Group and BU diversity initiatives
  • Support compliance and governance processes and practices
  • Manage the Workforce Planning SharePoint system and educate managers on how to use the system to support mobilisation and demobilisation of projects and utilisation of resources
  • Partner with the business to support cyclical activities including goal setting, ongoing performance conversations and reviews, professional development plans, talent and succession planning, employee engagement and remuneration review
  • Provide recommendations on salary benchmarking and remunerations packages
  • Promote the awareness of the EAP and assist employees in need of support 

What we are looking for

  • Significant relevant management experience at a senior management level ­
  • Expert knowledge of human resources in the Australian and International industry ­
  • Skills in business planning and management ­
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience providing strategic HR leadership and senior level experience across relevant HR disciplines ­
  • Managing the performance of a business unit, including people, safety, quality, time and budget requirements ­
  • Demonstrate some experience dealing with Employee Relations, Industrial Relations or performance management in a unionised environment within the construction industry ­
  • Skill in the implementation of compliance and governance processes and practices
