About the Role

This role is a 12 month contract to cover parental leave. Support NSW / ACT Infrastructure Projects and business unit to assist in delivering sustainable, successful, and profitable projects. A lead support role in supporting the full life cycle of Projects in NSW and ACT from pre contracts through to project launch and mobilisation, delivery, and demobilisation. Key responsibilities are to lead the generalist “People” related activities.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide generalist Human Resource/People, Training support for projects that do not have specific HR resources or teams
  • Provide additional HR support to projects that currently have HR teams dedicated
  • Support and deliver the Enterprise-wide People Strategy
  • Act as conduit between Corporate business unit and local projects, ensuring the delivery of enterprise programs and plans are embedded consistently
  • Provide recommendations to the GM People in the implementation of People related strategies and frameworks
  • Provide recommendations on salary benchmarking and remuneration packages, including the annual remuneration review and promotions
  • Provide ongoing support for operations in general employee relations such as counselling and disciplinary action, investigations, project demobilisation and terminations
  • Implement and monitor performance management processes as required
  • Monitor human resource system and compliance and recommend improvement or change initiatives when required, to improve business efficiencies
  • Support the pre contracts teams in the development of tender responses and plans
  • Assist with nominating personnel based on tender requests and specifications including skillsets, disciplines, availability, and suitability
  • Provide advice and support to the pre – contracts team upon award of projects, including the transition to a “live project”
  • Manage the project launch phase upon project or contract award including resource planning, local industry and participation requirements, John Holland systems and process set up
  • Work with the local operational leads and project managers to ensure appropriate resourcing levels on projects and any change management requirements
  • Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, and procedures

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • Degree in Business in Human Resource Management or Industrial Relations or post secondary training or TAFE certificate in HR, Industrial Relations or Employee Relations. Equivalent on the job experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a human resources role in the resources or infrastructure sector.
  • Ability to work autonomously to resolve issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of national and state regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of contractual and commercial awareness of employment legislation including government policy.
