About the Role

 

Oversee on-site construction and operational delivery of the whole project to ensure effective performance for the achievement of all planned schedules and project deliverables.

Provide effective leadership and sustainable working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure site safety, quality and environment controls and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

 

•    Oversee the overall on-site construction delivery on schedule with all stakeholder expectations met.
•    Provide and take leadership responsibility in health, safety and environment management.
•    Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key people informed.
•    Managing industrial relations issues and implications and develop appropriate resolution.
•    Conduct thorough performance management evaluation for direct and indirect reports as defined by the JH Performance management Development System.
•    Manage administrative duties for direct and indirect report requirements.
•    Ensure compliance in commercial and financial management including meeting budgets and identifying cost saving measures. 
•    Provide leadership in risk management, identify and mitigate risks prior to works commencing, communicate with and engage relevant stakeholders to control risk and build a risk management culture.  
•    Utilise project planning skills to plan work, monitor implementation and effectiveness to achieve outcomes for whole of project life.  
•    Review progress against plans, contractual arrangements and delivery milestones to ensure they are on schedule and within quality and cost estimates and take remedial action as required.  
•    Review design documentation, read drawings, provide constructive review and oversee implementation of final designs.  
•    Contribute to, seek and implement continuous improvement opportunities. 
•    Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures. 

Key Requirements:

 

Qualifications:

  • Trade Qualification or similar.
  • Qualifications and training e.g. Degree, Diploma, Engineering, Building/Construction, Project Management 
  • Builders registration (if applicable).

 
Experience:

  • Demonstrated Tier 1/2 site construction experience in a similar role. 
  • Experience in industry relevant trade and construction operations of similar scale. 
  • People and performance management of subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour.
  • Skill in review of design documentation, ability to understand drawings, provide constructability review and implement final design plans. 
  • Safety and environment management, resource management and construction program and methodology.
  • Supervision of projects in excess of $300M construction projects.
  • Exposure to various sectors ideally Health, commercial and station projects
