We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Sustainability Advisor to join our team based in Canterbury, NSW.  Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, the successful candidate will have a good understanding of and be passionate in their view on sustainability.  You will be responsible for providing advice to the project and deliver initiatives that continue to improve how we deliver sustainability work to our client and community. You will also be heavily involved in our ISC Sustainability rating for the Project. 

 

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide & take leadership responsibility in site sustainability management
  • Implement the Projects sustainability strategies including the sustainability management plan and monitor and report performance 
  • Provide expert advice  to the different Project teams on sustainability requirements and targets
  • Coordinate and provide day-to-day specialist sustainability management support to internal & project stakeholders
  • Provide operational sustainability guidance, diligence, consistency, and discipline to business leaders to drive a culture of best practice
  • Work to identify & manage sustainability risks
  • Manage the delivery of sustainability rating aspects and compile documentation for eternal rating bodies
  • Liaise with government bodies & professional organisations on sustainability matters
  • Establish, monitor and report on key sustainability performance objectives and standards for managing project risks
  • Support the development of the sustainability team personnel in leading practices and driving sustainability improvement
  • Developing and implementing site-specific sustainability documents, process, regulatory compliance applications, licensing and permits
  • Consult with other teams to identify opportunities for efficiencies and streamlining of sustainability processes and outcomes, striving to be a leader in the industry
  • Investigate and determine key innovations applicable to the Project oversee its implementation and approval
  • Monitor system and process audits to ensure compliance with sustainability standards requirements.
  • Conduct site visits, audits and inspections as required

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Science, Engineering or other associated disciplines
  • 5+ years’ experience within the Sustainability field, experience in construction industry is desirable but not essential
  • Sound understanding of sustainability principles and application within the construction industry, including Sustainability Rating Schemes such as Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) Green Star, NABERS and WELL. ISAP (Infrastructure sustainability Accredited Professional) Accreditation v 1.2 is preferred
  • Understanding of sustainability management techniques, National Construction Code compliance, Project Approval processes and requirements.
  • Understanding of Federal, State & Local sustainability statues & legislation
  • Passion and drive for driving sustainability in the construction industry.
