Are you up for the challenge? 

We are currently looking for an experienced Site Engineer to join our security fencing team working on our Southwest Metro Corridor project, based in Canterbury.

About you:

• Civil Engineer with site-based construction experience
• Piling experience desirable 
• You will enjoy project delivery and working in a busy team
• Have an appetite for budgets, systems, stakeholders, planning and construction delivery
• Safety values, communication skills, people skills and live and breathe John Hollands ‘People First’ culture are essential
• Flexibility to work weekend shifts and night shifts when required. For any weekend shift work completed, you will be eligible for additional compensation

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance of the works with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals, standards and JHG SQE Risk Management process
• Input information and undertake minor design on site, monitor and recommend changes to design details
• Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, i.e. construction methods, design, engineering procedures, etc.
• Demonstrate financial management skills including demonstrated behaviour in reducing costs and meeting budgets
• Verify subcontractors’ claims and variations
• Undertake cost controlling and estimating as required by the Site Manager.
• Maintain drawing register controls for the project ­ Implement and communicate risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
• Demonstrate skills in reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
• Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality
• Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures
• Planning for Rail possessions and shutdowns
