About the Role

We are interested in hearing from Site Engineers ideally with experience with Utilities on a major infrastructure project with exposure to design, construction and commissioning. In this role you will Provide onsite engineering services and technical support to ensure short term planning and programming of Utility works is completed in conjunction with the schedule. This is a project-based role adjacent to the Sydney Airport on the Botany Rail Development.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Ensure compliance of the works with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals and standards and JHG SQE Risk Management process
  • Conduct and administer overall job planning and for approval by the Project Manager
  • Input information and undertake minor design on site and monitor and recommend changes to design details to increase the ease of construction
  • Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, construction methods, design, procedures
  • Demonstrate financial management skills including demonstrated behaviour in reducing costs and meeting budgets
  • Verify subcontractors’ claims and variations
  • Undertake cost controlling and estimating as required by the Site Manager
  • Maintain drawing register controls for the project
  • Implement and communicate risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
  • Demonstrate skills in reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes
  • Demonstrate people management skills by being able to manage work and performance of teams and subcontractors to achieve project outcomes
  • Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering
  • At least 1 - 3  years of site engineering experience
  • Experienced on site with Utility activity’s (Relocatoin/Installation)
  • Wide level of planning, development and review of complex projects
  • Implementation of a process and/or product system of audits and schedules
  • Skill in use of document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance and procedures 
  • Written, verbal and presentation skills e.g. facilitating meetings, pre starts and tool box meetings and basic cost control skills
  • The ability to work quickly, effectively and positively in a demanding environment
  • Well-developed organisational skills and able to pay attention to detail
  • The ability to work to deadlines and targets and the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure
