About the role

Our Botany Rail Duplication Project is looking for an experienced Sustainability Advisor to join our Environment and Sustainability team, based in Mascot. Reporting to the Environment & Sustainability Manager, you will be accountable for managing the sustainability performance for all project works.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Lead, coordinate and provide day to day specialist sustainability support to internal stakeholders
  • Identification and effective management of sustainability risks
  • Embed sustainability requirements into the design and procurement process and sustainability accountabilities are communicated to the project team
  • Develop, manage and lead the continual technical improvement of project sustainability management systems
  • Liaise with government bodies and professional organisations on sustainability matters
  • Establish, monitor and report on key sustainability performance objectives and standards for managing project sustainability risks
  • Manage sustainability performance and reporting, including performance tracking
  • Manage sustainability consultants and the collection of sustainability monitoring information
  • Manage and support the development of sustainability team personnel in leading practices and driving improvement
  • Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, and procedures

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Sustainability or other associated disciplines
  • Specialist sustainability experience within the Construction industry on a major infrastructure project
  • Experience in achieving required Greenstar and ISCA ratings
  • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of the IS Rating Tool
  • Understanding of environmental management techniques and statutory approval processes
  • Understanding of the IS Rating Scheme Application and Verification processes
  • Ability to work autonomously to resolve issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
