We have a unique opportunity for a Temporary Works Specialist – Scaffold to join our national Temporary Works team.  This position is based in Sydney, with flexibility to consider Melbourne for the right candidate.

This key role provides specialist advisory, review and coordination support for scaffold, access and work at heights activities across projects.  You will support the planning, review and implementation of safe and compliant access solutions from pre-contracts through to delivery, ensuring consistent safety, quality and compliance outcomes.

About the Role

  • Manage, plan, and coordinate scaffold and work at height activities without supervision
  • Provide specialist technical advice and coordination for scaffold, access and work at heights (WAH) systems across projects from tender through to delivery which meet JH quality, safety and risk requirements
  • Implement and manage JH Temporary Works Design Process and systems
  • Identify and manage safety, compliance and constructability risks associated with scaffold, access and WAH systems across engineering lifecycle
  • Undertake reviews of scaffold and access designs prepared by subcontractors and consultants including methodologies and constructability to ensure safe, consistent, practical and compliant solutions
  • Provide technical input into bids, reviewing scaffold and access methodologies, scope, programme, risk and cost considerations
  • Influence and support engineering functions and project teams in planning, designing, procuring, installing and using scaffold and access systems, including complex and high-risk configurations
  • Drive the application of best practice, innovation and continuous improvement in scaffold and access systems across projects
  • Contribute to and implement the group Temporary Works strategy within specialist domain (Scaffold, Access, WAH) on complex and high‑risk projects
  • Apply commercial and contractual awareness in dealing with clients, contractual requirements, subcontractors and external designers to manage scope, programme and budgets when working with project teams
  • Develop and facilitate scaffold, work at height, supervision and temporary works training sessions
  • Support capability development through training, mentoring, toolbox talks and active contribution to the Temporary Works Community of Practice
  • Support HSE operations, GMR-7 high risk safety audits and incident investigations

About You

You will hold a relevant trade qualification and a High Risk Work Licence for Advanced Scaffolding, with strong experience working with scaffold, access and work at heights.

You will bring extensive experience across scaffold, access, edge protection and work at heights systems, including work on major and complex projects across a range of construction environments and the application of Australian Standards, industry requirements and Codes of Practice.

You will have experience reviewing scaffold and access methodologies and identifying risks to support safe and practical outcomes.

You will also have experience working with subcontractors and ensuring compliance with approved methodologies, safety requirements and Temporary Works governance, along with capability using digital tools such as Navisworks, Revizto and Bluebeam.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential.
