About the Project:

The Toowoomba Hospital expansion is a $1.3 billion investment which will create a purpose-built facility that consolidates healthcare services and improves long-term outcomes for the Darling Downs community. The project will deliver 118 additional overnight beds, improve access to local healthcare, enhance patient outcomes and experiences, and reduce the need for residents to travel for treatment. It will also support staff recruitment, retention, and development. The design will incorporate green spaces, heritage features, and efficient layouts that prioritise accessibility, wayfinding, and effective patient and staff movement.

About The Role:

We are looking for an experiences Senior Mechanical Services Engineer to provide mechanical services leadership and technical expertise across project design, procurement, delivery and commissioning. Support project teams to achieve quality, safety, programme and commercial objectives while building strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors. Drive innovation, best practice, risk management and continuous improvement to enhance project outcomes and business performance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead delivery of mechanical services packages to achieve project program, budget and quality objectives.
  • Coordinate mechanical design, procurement, installation and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor project performance and implement solutions to maintain schedule and cost targets.
  • Resolve mechanical engineering, constructability and site installation issues.
  • Ensure compliance with contracts, Building Code, standards and safety requirements.
  • Manage project costs, forecasting, commercial risks and financial performance.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project stakeholders. 
  • Lead mechanical project teams and contribute to tendering, constructability reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

What we are looking for:

  • Mechanical trade qualification or equivalent tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong experience in mechanical services, engineering or construction.
  • Past experience in a Mechanical Services leadership role.
  • Proven delivery of mechanical services on major construction projects ($500M+).
  • Strong experience across design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian building codes, standards and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, including budgeting, cost control and subcontractor management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills.
