The Project:
The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.
The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.
The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031. The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.
The Role:
As a Cost Planner, you will be responsible for developing and managing cost strategies across all phases of project delivery. Working closely with technical and commercial teams, you will ensure accurate forecasting, value optimisation, and financial compliance.
This includes planning and administering subcontractor and material costs, monitoring project budgets, and providing clear reporting on contract progress to support successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, Bills of Quantities, and tender submissions.
- Interpret designs, specifications, and client requirements to ensure compliant and competitive pricing.
- Develop first principles pricing and undertake cost planning, benchmarking, and analysis.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier engagement, including RFQs, quote analysis, and package coordination.
- Support project delivery through financial reporting, progress claims, variations, and cost control.
- Review construction methodologies and program sequencing to identify cost-effective solutions.
- Provide risk, contingency, and escalation analysis to support bid development and project outcomes.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Designers, and Procurement teams to achieve cost-benefit results while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
About You:
- Tertiary or Trade Qualifications in Construction, Engineering, Science, Quantity Surveying and/or Project/Construction Management
- 5 years’ experience in estimating, cost planning, or quantity surveying within construction.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
- Skilled in first principles estimating and tender preparation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficient in software Blue Beam and CostX (advantageous), with strong reporting and analysis capabilities.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
