The Project:

The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.

 

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

 

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031.  The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.

The Role:

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will provide technical expertise in geotechnical analysis, design, and construction support to manage risks and deliver practical, constructible solutions.

 

This role is key to ensuring geotechnical outcomes align with project objectives across both underground and surface works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake detailed geotechnical analysis, including stability, settlement, seepage, and foundation design
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of technical reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Oversee site investigations and interpret field and laboratory test results to inform design decisions
  • Monitor geotechnical performance during construction and support the implementation of risk management strategies
  • Ensure all geotechnical work complies with legislative, environmental, and project-specific safety requirements
  • Mentor graduate engineers and actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the team

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline, with 2 to 5 years of experience as a Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist
  • Experience in onsite project management of subsurface and groundwater investigations
  • Skilled in logging pile, excavation, and drilling soil samples, as well as conducting groundwater assessments
  • Proficient in calculating and assessing ground bearing pressures for various plant and structures
  • Ability to assess and review geotechnical design drawings and technical reports
  • Knowledge of contamination assessment for soil and groundwater
