The Project:
The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.
The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.
The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031. The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.
The Role:
Reporting to the Finance Manager as Project Accountant you will provide vital support across the financial management and reporting of complex, large-scale project activities.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-performing alliance team, contributing to the successful delivery of a landmark infrastructure project that will transform South Australia’s transport network for generations to come.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver accurate and timely month-end and year-end management accounts.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly project cost reports and variance analysis.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with project-specific requirements.
- Maintain and update the Project Asset Register, including asset depreciation management.
- Assist with the calculation and management of leave entitlements for project personnel, ensuring compliance with relevant awards and agreements.
- Prepare and manage Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and Fuel Tax Credit calculations in line with ATO regulations.
- Manage ad-hoc financial tasks, including responding to stakeholder requests and preparing custom financial analyses.
- Ensure compliance with the Project Alliance Agreement (PAA) and other contractual obligations.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve financial processes and enhance efficiency.
About You:
- Qualified accounting professional with a strong understanding of project-based financial management and statutory compliance requirements.
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or CA qualification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting, ideally within a large corporate or major project environment.
- Demonstrated capability in preparing month-end reports, supporting audits, and managing tax compliance, including Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and Fuel Tax Credits.
- Proficient in financial systems and tools, with advanced Excel skills in data analysis and financial modelling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships across finance, project, and operational teams.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing project requirements, maintaining high standards of accuracy, accountability, and professional integrity.
