The Project:

The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.

 

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

 

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031.  The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project

The Role:

Reporting to the Senior Quality Engineer, the Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that quality management processes and practices are effectively implemented to achieve compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and relevant industry standards.

 

This role provides technical expertise in quality assurance and control, oversees inspections and testing activities, and ensures adherence to established procedures. The Quality Engineer/Advisor also drives continuous improvement initiatives, identifies opportunities to enhance performance, and supports the consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes across projects or operations.

The Responsabilities:

  • Implement and maintain quality management processes in line with the organisation's QMS and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Provide input into the development of quality plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and other project-specific quality documentation.
  • Conduct inspections and tests to verify compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and relevant standards.
  • Oversee subcontractor and supplier quality processes, ensuring adherence to agreed quality criteria.
  • Manage and record non-conformances, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Plan and conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with the QMS, project requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams to close out audit findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed quality records, including test results, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Prepare regular quality performance reports for project stakeholders and management.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to address quality-related issues and ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Act as a technical resource for quality-related matters and provide advice to project teams.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve quality processes, materials, or methods of construction.
  • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within project teams.
  • Support the identification and mitigation of quality-related risks during project planning and execution.

About You:

  • Tertiary Qualification or Diploma in in Engineering, Science, Building, Construction, Quality Management or Project Management
  • Proven 1-3 years' experience in a quality engineering role within the construction industry.
  • Good knowledge of quality management systems, standards and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform inspections, tests, and audits to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
  • Experience supporting quality or compliance functions in a project-based environment.
  • Familiarity with document management systems (e.g., Aconex, SharePoint) and quality reporting tools.
  • Exposure to working within an ISO 9001-certified environment or similar.
