The Project:

The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.

 

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

 

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031.  The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.

The Role:

Reporting to the Enviromental Manager, the Senior Enviromental Advisor provides leadership, guidance, and specialist advice to ensure project compliance with environmental legislation, approvals, and company requirements. The role supports project leadership and site teams in identifying and managing environmental risks, developing and maintaining environmental management systems, and driving continuous improvement in environmental outcomes. 

 

The Senior Environment Advisor also represents the project in dealings with regulators, auditors, and community stakeholders while mentoring junior environment staff. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementationand monitoring of environmental management systems, plans, and procedures.
  • Provide specialist advice to project teams and managers on environmental risks, obligations, and mitigation strategies.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on environmental KPIs, approvals, and performance measures.
  • Review and analyse environmental data, producing timely and accurate reports for management and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, project requirements, and all relevant environmental legislation. 
  • Conduct nd manage environmental incident investigations and corrective actions. 

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in environmental management, preferably within construction, tunnelling, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals, and compliance processes.
