The Project

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, comprising of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has successfully secured the contract to deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

 

The project scope is concentrated on a 10.5km motorway, including more than 4kms of twin three lane tunnels, road and bridge construction and complex M&E installations. Open to traffic in 2031, the T2D alliance will offer the people of Adelaide an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project, career stability and the opportunity for career progression and development.

The Role

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will support the Geotech Lead in interfacing geotechnical management of design and construction aspects of the project. This role is pivotal in fostering positive relationships with designers, supporting the Construction team, and assisting in validating ground conditions in CPS against design assumptions.

 

The role will have cross discipline involvement across major civil works, tunnel works, assisting in geotechnical temporary works and ground investigation with a key focus of construction interface and CPS reporting.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Identify geotechnical issues and develop strategies to minimise design and construction impacts on deliverables and program
  • Develop and foster good working relationships with the designers, construction, DIT and external interfaces
  • Assist to develop and implement Management Plans for the project including developing and implementing plans and procedures for a specific Area, ensuring they are updated as required
  • Develop good working relationships with the project construction team to ensure activities are undertaken strategically
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to the construction teams on geotechnical activities
  • Geotechnical CPS processes including mapping, logging, management of investigation and input into geotechnical temporary works
  • Write a range of high-quality communication including emails, technical notes and meetings
  • Manage responses to all project related communications matters including via email and meetings within the head office and within the site offices or project sites
  • Report and interact within the engineering management team on geotechnical issues

 

About you

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Earth Science
  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in geotechnical engineering, construction, and leadership of geotechnical teams
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain strong relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a capacity to convey complex information to a variety of audiences
  • Familiarity with major civil construction, mining or earthworks
