The Project
The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.
The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.
The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031. The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.
The Role:
The Senior Project Engineer, Tunnel role will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of tunnelling activities, with a particular focus on TBM operations. The role ensures that tunnelling works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality and environmental standards. By managing subcontractors, collaborating across design and delivery teams, and mentoring junior engineers, the Senior Project Engineer role contributes to the successful delivery of the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) project and the long-term legacy of this major infrastructure investment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate TBM tunnelling works to achieve safety, quality, program, and cost objectives
- Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards, and project requirements
- collaborate with design, construction, logistics, and systems teams to deliver efficient and effective TBM operations
- Monitor tunnelling progress, cost, risks, and report to senior leadership with recommendations for mitigation
- Oversee geotechnical, segmental lining, and tunnelling logistics activities to ensure safe and efficient execution
- Mentor, guide, and support junior and site engineers to build technical capability and project delivery skills
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, Mining, Geotechnical, or related Engineering discipline
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in major tunnelling or infrastructure project
- Strong technical background in TBM operations, ideally with EPB TBM exposure
- Experience in large-diameter TBM tunnelling projects
