The Project
The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.
The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.
The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031. The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.
The Role
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Senior Project Engineer will lead the coordination and delivery of utilities investigations, relocations, protection works, and installations across the project. While the position operates project-wide, it will maintain a significant interface with the Surface Construction Team to support staging, access, and construction delivery requirements.
The role is critical in managing complex interfaces between design, construction, stakeholders, and utility service authorities, ensuring utilities works are delivered safely, efficiently, and aligned with overall project program and construction objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead planning and delivery of utilities works including water, sewer, electrical, gas, telecommunications, and drainage services
- Manage complex interfaces between construction teams, designers, subcontractors, and utility authorities
- Coordinate design development, constructability reviews, and technical approvals
- Drive safety leadership and ensure compliance with project safety, environmental, and quality systems
- Manage subcontractor performance, progress tracking, and productivity outcomes
- Identify and mitigate delivery risks impacting program and staging
- Support commercial management including forecasting, cost control, variations, and reporting
- Review technical documentation, ITPs, SWMS, and construction methodologies
- Provide leadership and mentoring to Project Engineers and Site Engineers
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships across internal and external project partners
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Extensive experience delivering utilities packages on major infrastructure or civil construction projects
- Strong knowledge of utility authority requirements and approvals processes
- Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary construction interfaces
- Proven leadership capability within large project environments
- Strong commercial, contractual, and risk management understanding
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex infrastructure environment
