The Project:
The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.
The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.
The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031. The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project
The Role:
Reporting to the Safety Manager, you will play a key role in implementing, supporting, and monitoring health and safety management requirements, strategies, and initiatives across the project.
As the Senior Safety Advisor, you’ll join a passionate team committed to innovation, collaboration, and fostering a strong safety culture at every level of project delivery. You will provide clear guidance, leadership, and support to champion and strengthen this safety-first approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist safety support and coaching to operational leaders, employees, contractors and key stakeholders to drive safe work practices across all sites.
- Ensure legal, regulatory and contractual WHS obligations are identified, controlled and effectively communicated, providing technical expertise to the delivery team.
- Maintain, implement and continuously improve the project’s WHS management systems, policies, plans and procedures.
- Analyse health and safety data, prepare timely reports, and recommend effective solutions and preventative measures to improve safety performance.
- Drive continuous improvement by assessing the effectiveness of operational safety controls, sharing lessons learned and promoting best practice.
- Play a pivotal role in shaping and sustaining a consistent, positive safety culture through proactive engagement and strong stakeholder relationships.
About You:
- Formal qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- Safety Lead Auditor Qualification
- ICAM investigation qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in quality, Safety, Environmental, Project Management or other associated disciplines
- Proven experience within major construction, infrastructure, or other high-risk projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of WHS legislation, compliance frameworks, and safety management systems.
