The Project:

The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.

 

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

 

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031.  The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project

The Role:

Reporting to the Safety Manager, the Senior Safety Advisor will support the Work Health and Safety functions, implementing and maintaining effective safety practices, systems, and procedures. You will play a key role in delivering, supporting, and monitoring Safety and Health Management requirements, strategies, and initiatives across the project.

 

Working closely with Zone Health and Safety Managers and the broader project team, you will provide guidance, direction, and support to foster and lead a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in accordance and demonstrate commitment to the Project’s Values and Behaviours by demonstrating a positive focus on health and safety on the project.
  • Providing support, coordination and advice of health and safety practices, systems and procedures including coaching and support to stakeholders across the sites
  • Providing technical input to delivery, ensuring that legal and contractual obligations / risks are identified, controlled and communicated appropriately
  • Work with the ELT and partner with the business to assist in the design and deliver tailored programs, policy, initiatives and services that support reform, change and capability build across the project.
  • Maintaining and implementing the Project's WHS policy, management plans, systems and procedures
  • Provide specialist support to internal stakeholders including operational leaders, project employees, contractors, clients and visitors. 
  • Develop exceptional working relationships with key stakeholders to assist in the delivery of quality outcomes.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures. Maintain an update-to-date knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory and company safety requirements, ensuring workplace are informed of relevant changes. 
  • Support the effectiveness of the consultative framework and communicate safety matters to management and staff as appropriate.
  • Review and analysis health and safety data and produce reports in a timely manner.
  • Drive continuous improvement in health and safety by assessing the effectiveness & efficiency of operations, initiating performance improvements and sharing best practices / lessons learned.
  • Play a pivotal role in driving a consistent, positive safety culture for the project.

About You:

  • Formal qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent 
  • Safety and Health experience (5 + years) in Construction and/or heavy industry and high-risk workplaces. 
  • Experience monitoring, reviewing and reporting on performance, compliance and defects
  • Knowledge in Safety and Health Management Systems
  • Ability to lead high level investigations involving multiple internal and external parties.
  • Skills in monitoring, reviewing, investigative review techniques, reporting and continuous improvement on performance and compliance.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of competency in Microsoft office suite, and the capability to learn other software applications
