The Project
The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, comprising of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has successfully secured the contract to deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.
The project scope is concentrated on a 10.5km motorway, including more than 4kms of twin three lane tunnels, road and bridge construction and complex M&E installations. Open to traffic in 2031, the T2D alliance will offer the people of Adelaide an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project, career stability and the opportunity for career progression and development.
The Role
The Spoil Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing the excavation, handling, and disposal of spoil on site.
This role requires a blend of technical expertise, on-site management skills, and a strong commitment to safety and environmental regulation
Roles and responsibilities
- Ensure compliance of the works with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals, standards, and Risk Management process
- Input information and undertake minor design on site and monitor and recommend changes to design details to increase the ease of construction
- Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, i.e. construction methods, design, engineering procedures, etc.
- Demonstrate financial management skills including demonstrated behaviour in reducing costs and meeting budgets
- Verify subcontractors’ claims and variations
- Undertake cost controlling and estimating as required
- Implement and communicate risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
- Demonstrate skills in reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
- Manage work and performance of teams and subcontractors
- Completion of site quality documentation, cost control and tracking registers as needed
- Management of quality work lots and ensure timely closure of completed worklots
- Assist with site administration tasks as directed by the Project Engineer
- Assist with cost tracking and forecasting as directed by the Project Engineer
- Compile and present QA, safety and performance information as required
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (i.e. Bachelors Degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering);
- Proven experience in construction site operations, preferably roads, tunnels or bridges; with specific experience in spoil management being highly desirable.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and waste management practices.
- Delivered on major civil infrastructure projects or similar
- Advanced commercial acumen including cost reduction and meeting budgets
- Understanding of HSEQ management systems, compliance and reporting procedures
- High level of computer literacy
