The Project:

The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.

 

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

 

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031.  The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.

The Role:

Reporting to the Traffic Manager, the Traffic Site Engineer will support the planning, coordination and implementation of traffic management activities across multiple work fronts.

 

Working closely with construction teams, traffic subcontractors and key stakeholders, the role will ensure traffic staging is delivered safely, meets regulatory requirements and minimises disruption to the travelling public.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate implementation of Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) on site
• Support the planning and staging of lane closures, detours and traffic switches to enable construction works
• Liaise with construction teams, traffic subcontractors and authorities to coordinate daily traffic activities
• Monitor traffic setups to ensure compliance with road authority standards and project safety requirements
• Conduct site inspections and audits of traffic management arrangements
• Assist with traffic permits, approvals and documentation requirements
• Identify and resolve traffic related issues to minimise disruption to road users
• Maintain records and reporting relating to traffic management and site activities

About You:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Experience working on road, civil or infrastructure construction projects
• Understanding of temporary traffic management in live traffic environments
• Ability to interpret traffic staging and traffic management drawings
• Strong coordination and communication skills working with site teams and subcontractors
• Proactive approach to safety, planning and problem solving
