The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.
The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031. The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
The role
T2D will specialise in cutting-edge underground construction methods, including the use of Earth Pressure Balance Tunnel Boring Machines (EPB TBMs).
We are beginning to seek to establish our TBM Tunnelling teams in preparation for tunnelling to commence in early 2026, and we are seeking expressions of interests from Grout Plant Operators to join our dynamic team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining the grouting systems associated with TBM tunnelling, ensuring proper execution of backfill grouting and annular space filling in real-time TBM operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the TBM grouting system in coordination with TBM advance.
- Monitor grout pressure, flow rates, and mixing ratios to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Mix and prepare two-component grouts (A & B components).
- Conduct grout testing (flow cone, viscosity, etc.) as required.
- Maintain grouting logs, data sheets, and daily reports.
- Assist in grout plant maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transfer of grout materials.
- Coordinate closely with the TBM operator, segment erectors, and control room staff.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental procedures on site.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a grout operator in TBM or similar tunnelling projects.
- Strong understanding of two-component grout systems and automated grouting equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor maintenance on grout pumps and mixers.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and underground environments.
- Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced, demanding setting.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive team player.
- Must hold the relevant qualifications and tickets
