The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

 

 

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031.  The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure.

 

The role

T2D will specialise in cutting-edge underground construction methods, including the use of Earth Pressure Balance Tunnel Boring Machines (EPB TBMs).

We are beginning to seek to establish our TBM Tunnelling teams in preparation for tunnelling to commence in early 2026, and we are seeking expressions of interests from TBM Ring Builders to join our dynamic team.

 

A Ring Builder is responsible for the installation of precast concrete segments to form the tunnel lining during the operation of a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate segment erector within the TBM to build tunnel rings safely and efficiently
  • Assist in the alignment and installation of precast segments to ensure correct fit and seal
  • Monitor and report any issues with segment installation or ring build accuracy
  • Work closely with TBM Operators and Shift Supervisors to maintain progress
  • Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment
  • Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance of equipment as required
  • Support other TBM operations as needed

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience in TBM ring building or similar tunnelling/construction work
  • Familiarity with segmental lining systems and TBM operations
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety procedures
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and under rotating shift schedules
  • Physically fit and capable of working in demanding underground conditions
  • Relevant qualifications / tickets
