The Project

The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.

 

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

 

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031.  The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.

The role

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer with strong TBM experience to lead tunnelling works on the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) project in Adelaide. This role plays a critical part in the planning and delivery of one of South Australia's largest and most complex infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate TBM tunnelling activities to meet program, safety, and quality targets
  • Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to project specifications and standards
  • Collaborate closely with design, construction, and logistics teams to ensure efficient TBM operations
  • Monitor and report on progress, cost, and risk to senior leadership
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a strong technical team culture
  • Ensure strict compliance with environmental, health & safety, and regulatory requirements

About you

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in major tunnelling or infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in TBM operations, with EPB TBM experience highly regarded
  • Experience with large-diameter tunnelling is preferred but not essential
  • Proven success delivering complex underground works within time and budget constraints
  • Strong technical understanding of geotechnical interfaces, segmental lining, and tunnel logistics
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
