The Project

The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.

 

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

 

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031.  The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.

The Role:

The Project Engineer role is responsible for coordinating on-site engineering activities to ensure tunnelling works are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality and safety standards. The role provides technical input across design, planning, and delivery while supporting project managers and site teams. By engaging with subcontractors, consultants, and key stakeholders, the Project Engineer contributes to the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of tunnel construction activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and administer tunnelling engineering activities in line with project plans, designs, and specifications
  • Interpret and apply tunnel designs for construction implementation
  • Prepare and contribute to site construction budgets, reports, and schedules
  • Manage subcontractor performance, supervising and motivating teams to achieve outcomes
  • Arrange tenders, draft subcontract scopes of work, and oversee procurement activities
  • Ensure effective document and record management, reporting, and compliance with project systems

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, Mining, Geotechnical, or related Engineering discipline
  • 5–10 years’ engineering experience with at least 3+ years in site-based roles
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, and delivering complex engineering projects
  • Experience on projects valued at >$10M (preferably >$500M major projects)
