About Inland Rail
Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.
The Illabo to Stockinbingal project is about 39km of new rail corridor located within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai. This new section of rail corridor will provide a direct route from east of Illabo, tracking north to Stockinbingal and connecting into the existing Forbes rail line.
What is needed?
In this role as a Graduate Engineer, you will have the opportunity to join a rail signalling team based on an Inland Rail project in south western NSW. The role will be assisting in the planning, support and reporting activities across the project, gaining experience to setup your career for success in rail and construction with John Holland.
The role will be a 2:1 Roster based on site in Stockinbingal.
Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do?
-Gain hands-on experience in Rail Signalling.
-Deliver short-term project components, adhering to daily and fortnightly plans.
-Uphold our duty of care in safety, quality, and environmental practices.
-Prepare and implement control measures as per SEP, TRA, and ITP requirements.
-Collect data, conduct routine engineering tasks, and apply problem-solving skills to achieve outcomes.
-Review design documentation for constructability and implement plans.
-Procure materials and services in line with environmental and project standards.
-Address non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and prevent future issues.
-Assign tasks to technicians, ensuring quality results.
-Monitor project costs, efficiency, and quality.
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
-Recently completed or near completion of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
-A passion for the construction and rail industry, with a desire to develop a career in engineering.
-Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
-A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.
-Eligible to work in Australia.
