Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,600km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.
The Illabo to Stockinbingal project is about 39km of new rail corridor located within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai. It will provide a direct route from east of Illabo, tracking north to Stockinbingal and connecting into the existing Forbes rail line.
What is needed?
We are currently seeking an experienced Planner to work on our Illabo to Stockinbingal project (I2S) willing to explore a new opportunity in regional NSW.
This is a role for someone who can get involved in the process of planning, creating detailed programmes, and monitoring performance to deliver work of high quality, on time and on budget. If you are ready to contribute to the team then we want to hear from you!
This position will be a Monday-Friday Sydney-based role until construction commences in July. The role will then be a 2:1 Roster based on site in Stockinbingal.
This position will be responsible for:
-Implement planning strategies and reviews for projects
-Ensure that project planning activities are conducted in accordance with John Holland policies and procedures
-Ensure monitoring and reporting of Project Controls processes are effectively implemented on projects.
-Coordinate with project team, partners, clients, stakeholders, consultants, designers, vendors, subcontractors for management of the planning function in conjunction with established procedures
-Lead a planning and controls culture across the project based on best practice and with a focus on risk management, cost control and SQE
-Identification and communication of issues and opportunities to the Project.
-Identify necessary training in the use of planning and programming systems, project monitoring & controls and the interpretation of data and information generated
-Interacting with people, specifically: collaboration, consultation and cooperation with project staff in order to coordinate information flow for the performance of the planning and controls functions, including for the performance of subcontractors
-Implementation of project monitoring systems, particularly concentrating on time, cost, resources & quality (project controls & earned value). Ensure that planning and controls reports generated across project(s) provide maximum cost and time forecasting certainty for project(s).
-Provide support to the Project in report interpretation, analysis of project performance, forward planning and development of corrective actions to maximise project delivery outcomes

-Experience within a construction environment with a relevant engineering degree

-Ability to use software such as 4D Modelling, BIM & other digital engineering packages, Schedule Risk Analysis, Program Forensic Analysis, Time Chainage Charts
-Appreciation of the importance of ‘One Team’ understanding the importance of partnering with project support teams such as Safety, Quality, Community and Environment.
-Ability to engage with and communicate at all levels driving positive outcomes
-Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills.
-Show an appreciation of commercial issues and understanding of representing the project’s best interests always
To be considered you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or related disciplines.
Experience using planning software and tools such as Primavera.
Proficient stakeholder communication skills and ability to build relationships and rapport with people at all levels.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

-Experience on complex Rail/Infrastructure projects
-Willing to DIDO
-Or, willing to relocate yourself within an hour’s commute of Cootamundra/Stockinbingal.
-Be open to working a 2:1 roster (2 weeks on / 1 week off)
