About the Project:
John Holland in partnership with McConnell Dowell (Joint Venture) are delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland. This is an innovative project that involves the world-first conversion of a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility in far-north Queensland (270km NW of Townsville).
The project will see the conversion of two existing mine pits into reservoirs, involving the construction of significant underground infrastructure including a large powerhouse cavern and waterway shafts and tunnels to allow the transfer of water between upper and lower reservoirs to generate power during peak periods and return water back to the upper reservoir during off peak periods.
This project received funding from ARENA as part of ARENA's Advancing Renewables Program and is a gamechanger for the clean energy industry worldwide as it is an entirely new approach to large-scale energy storage.
We are currently recruiting for a talented, experienced, and driven Mechanical Quality Advisor to deliver this iconic project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will be required to support the implementation and monitoring of the quality objectives and requirements. Together with your team, you will ensure risks and other issues do not adversely impact the surety of successful project delivery. You will also assist with the inspection and test requirements.
- Under direction, develop and recommend inspection and sampling techniques, quality control plans, process control procedures, testing and analysis procedures to ensure that products meet specifications and standards
- Document quality issues and performance measures for management review
- Assist with the implementation of the organisational Quality Management System on the project to ensure quality objectives and targets are met
- Prepare audit reports summarising production and quality issues together with recommend corrective actions
- Identify and report quality objectives, requirements, risks and other issues that may adversely impact the surety of successful project delivery to the Quality Manager
- Provide technical advice and assistance to management for quality-related activities
- Understand compliance and reporting procedures and processes
- Manage the reporting of non-compliances and ensure dispositions, remedial solutions and corrective actions are effectively implemented
- Review subcontractors' quality documentation and ensure they fulfil their quality system obligations
- Attend inspections to ensure works are compliant with design and project requirement
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or similar), Science, Building, Construction, Quality Management or Project Management
- Ideally 3+ years’ experience in a quality representative role
- Quality assurance experience gained on large scale construction projects, with a focus on mechanical engineering
- Experience in developing and implementing project QA management systems
