About The Project

 

John Holland has recently been awarded the Illabo to Stockinbingal section of Inland Rail in NSW. The Illabo to Stockinbingal section is about 39km of new rail corridor located within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai. It will provide a direct route from east of Illabo, tracking north to Stockinbingal and connecting into the existing Forbes rail line.
Illabo to Stockinbingal is a DIDO Project, accommodation is provided on the 2:1 (2 weeks on / 1 week off) roster. 
If you move to within an hour of Stockinbingal / Cootamundra, the Project will contribute (in line with the relocation policy) towards your relocation. 

About The Role

 

The Construction Manager role is responsible for coordinating all site-based construction activities to ensure that assigned construction works are completed to the client’s satisfaction and to meet quality, time and profit objectives.

 

  • Apply contemporary practices in construction methodology to complete assigned works in compliance with client expectations, company objectives and all contractual obligations.
  • Procure necessary resources for assigned projects
  • Authorise construction planning, programming and completion schedules
  • Authorise engagement of subcontractors, management of subcontractor work to achieve outcomes, and all major subcontract variations
  • Assist in the implementation, monitoring and review of a construction management plan
  • Monitor progress, ensuring that work quality and techniques are of a high standard and report regularly on project performance, and cost against company objectives
  • Ensure correct supervisory levels, construction cost, schedule and change management
  • Ensure that HSE requirements and risk controls are considered in all construction planning and processes ¬ 
  • Stakeholder management: Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community and other external parties are developed and maintained. 
  • People management: Establish and develop a high-performance team to ensure the project has the capability to achieve targets.
  • Financial management: Ensure strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with JH’s authority and reporting frameworks and maximise the profit margin for the project.

 

To be successful in this key role, you will have:

 

  • Tertiary degree, preferably in one of the following disciplines - Engineering, Construction, Building, Sciences, Project Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience gained on construction, engineering or associated projects
  • Demonstrated experience in civil construction with strong Bulk Earthworks experience
  • Contemporary practices in construction methodology ¬ Contractual, legal, commercial, industrial relations and legislative compliance 
  • Management of people and performance management experience including industrial relations / unions.
  • Typical advanced financial management including cost reduction and meeting budgets.
  • Development and delivery of a process and/or product system of audits and schedules.
  • Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages.
  • Quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment.
