About The Project
John Holland have been awarded to deliver the Parramatta light rail stage 2 - Enabling works project, the first part of this $322 million contract consists of the construction of the first 1.3km of new light rail alignment, including a 320m bridge over the Parramatta River between Melrose Park and Wentworth Point. Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 – Main Works will connect Stage 1 and the Parramatta CBD to Sydney Olympic Park via Camellia, Rydalmere, Ermington, Melrose Park and Wentworth Point.
About The Role
John Holland is looking for an Environmental Manager to join our team on the Paramatta light rail stage 2. You may see yourself as a Senior Advisor wanting to step into a Managers role or alternatively be an established Environmental Manager looking to further their career in a key leadership role within a top tier contractor on major projects.
The role be accountable for managing and enhancing the environmental performance and ensuring compliance for all project works. As well as engaging and being a part of our wider Environment and Sustainability Infrastructure and Major Projects team providing strategic support and input across a number of projects. The role will be based in Rhodes NSW.
- Ensure John Holland adopts robust due diligence and risk management processes and understands and meets its regulatory and legal environmental obligations.
- Provide leadership, technical advice and input regarding tenders and existing projects.
- Work closely and build strong working relationships with our internal Environmental and Sustainability Senior Leaders across the Business.
- Coordinate and provide day to day specialist environmental support to internal stakeholders, including Group and Regional Environment teams.
- Develop, manage and lead the continual technical improvement of project environment management systems.
- Liaise with government bodies and professional organisations on environmental matters.
- Manage relevant reporting/KPI deliverables relating to environmental and sustainability targets.
- Prepare and review work packages, negotiate appropriate licences and approvals as required.
- Leadership, management and coordination of investigation and response to environmental complaints, incidents, non-conformances relating to site.
- Provide training to stakeholders on environment matters.
- Monitor, measure and evaluate environment performance in order to support the continuous improvement of John Holland’s systems and practice.
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Sustainability, or other associated disciplines
- Specialist environmental and sustainability experience within the Construction industry ideally within a Tier 1 Contractor
- Use of planning software & tools such as Primavera Project Planning, Earned Value and Cash Flow Analysis
- A minimum of 5 years Construction Environment Management experience / or significant Senior Environmental and Sustainability experience working across infrastructure projects and pre-contracts.
- Ability to lead high level investigations involving multiple internal and external parties
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to build effective and strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
