About The Project
The Northern Hospital Redevelopment is valued at approximately $500 million and is being undertaken for the Victorian Health Building Authority within the health sector. The scope of work includes the demolition of the existing structure, construction of a new building, and refurbishment of the main hospital building. Stage 2 of the project will deliver a new Emergency Department (ED) and Inpatient Unit (IPU) tower. The Emergency Department will feature a Resuscitation Zone, adult and paediatric Short Stay Unit, Emergency Observation Unit, and Inpatient Unit, enhancing healthcare capabilities and services.
About The Role
As a Contracts Administrator, you will assist in preparations and negotiations with sub-contractors for the calling of quotations and letting of contracts, specifically tailored for hospital construction projects. You will also provide contract administration services to support the control of contract costs and ensure compliance with healthcare-specific requirements.
Responsibilities of the role include:
Draft scopes of work and tender packages to accompany requests for quotations issued to subcontractors, ensuring alignment with hospital construction standards and healthcare regulations.
Conduct initial investigations with subcontractors to clarify the organisation’s conditions relating to contracts for hospital projects, including specialized hospital infrastructure and healthcare compliance.
Operate and maintain commercial and contract systems, including Project Costs Reporting (PCR), Asset Registers, Commercial Pack database, and Contract Sum, with a focus on healthcare-specific project costs.
Ensure cost forecasting for allocated subcontracts and cost codes are accurately maintained, keeping project management teams informed of any cost issues immediately upon identification, particularly in relation to hospital-specific requirements.
Assess commercial and contractual risks involved in the delivery and implementation of hospital projects and identify and implement controls to mitigate risks, including those related to healthcare safety and compliance.
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Law, Commerce, or equivalent.
Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. graduate certificate, graduate diploma) in Commerce, Accounting, Business, Construction, Property, Quantity Surveying, Law, or other associated disciplines.
Experience working as a Contracts Administrator or Quantity Surveyor in the construction and engineering industry, with demonstrated experience in hospital or healthcare-related projects.
Relevant commercial administration experience in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or associated disciplines, with a focus on managing contracts and costs for healthcare infrastructure projects
