We are looking for a talented Head of Technology Platforms to join our IT team, located in either Melbourne or Sydney. This role leads multiple teams of platform owners, engineers, and platform administrators to produce and support high quality, robust infrastructure, and systems technology.
The Head of Technology Platforms (Cloud, Network and End Point/Systems) is responsible for planning engineering projects, technology decision, methodology approach and overseeing the efficient running of projects, including providing supervision and guidance to other engineers. This will be done through close engagement with other senior IT leaders and deep business engagement and by managing the platform roadmap, support model, budget and associated resourcing, ensuring alignment with investment and strategic plans.
Importantly this role seeks to provide solution development for the business through requirements assessment, architecture alignment and process management, translating these into working and supportable solutions.
This role is bother operational and strategic in ensuring the platforms continue to evolve and meet the demands of the John Holland environment across 6500+ users and 180 locations.
About the Role
• Lead the Cloud, Network and End Point teams, providing guidance, coaching and feedback to ensure high performance and engagement.
• Define and implement the platform operations policies, standards, processes, and best practices, ensuring compliance with the IT governance framework and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and report on the platform operations metrics, such as availability, performance, capacity, incidents, problems, changes and service requests.
• Manage the platform operations budget, ensuring cost efficiency and optimisation of the IT resources and assets. Drive a FinOps strategy to promote cost awareness with the group
• Coordinate and oversee the platform operations projects and initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and high quality of the outcomes.
• Be the point of engagement for the business when solution requirements are needed.
• Establish, develop and maintain effective relationships with the internal and external stakeholders, such as business users, vendors, partners and service providers.
• Identify and evaluate the platform operations risks and issues and implement appropriate mitigation and resolution actions.
• Engage with the Security Operations team to align to the secure posture and ensure the platforms are compliant with the security posture. Always be seeking constant improvement in the security of the platforms
• Drive the platform operations innovation and improvement, leveraging the emerging technologies and industry best practices.
• Encouraging innovation and mitigation of risks at the earliest opportunity, accepting and learning from low-cost failure
• Be a key contributor to the strategic and tactical direction of the platform
About You:
This position will see you holding a relevant post graduate qualification (highly regarded), coupled with extensive experience in IT platform operations, with a significant portion of that having been in a leadership role. You will have a proven track record of managing the Cloud AWS & Azure, Network, with in-depth knowledge of the IT infrastructure and services.
You will have substantial expertise leading large-scale platforms (distributed systems) and technical projects, in an agile engineering environment.
You have excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and enjoy working collaboratively, fostering effective strategic relationships with people at all levels both internally and externally.
