About The Project

The Linewide Alliance, comprising John Holland, Alstom, RATP Dev, KBR and WSP, are excited to be delivering the transformative Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Linewide package.

 

When SRL opens, the new rail services for passengers will also be delivered by, a venture between RATP Dev and John Holland to operate and maintain the franchise for 15 years from 2035, to be known as TransitLinx.

 

The Alliance will deliver a world-class, service-proven driverless metro system that sets new benchmarks for comfort, safety, and reliability for Melbourne.

 

SRL is a transport and urban planning project that will deliver world-class public transport, reduce travel times, and support the delivery of more homes and housing.

About The Role:

Monitor and support the safety function under general supervision and to provide support and coordination of safety practices, systems, and procedures on a project.

 

All our employees have a key role in ensuring the success of CYP’s health, safety, environmental & quality management program and to fulfil this, each person must adopt the project’s core safety and environmental values.

 

Responsibilities of the role include (but are by no means limited to);

  • Monitor compliance with workplace safety systems, procedures, and legislative requirements across all project sites.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and safety walks, engaging supervisors and engineers to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Assist in developing and implementing project-specific safety policies, procedures, and communication tools.
  • Administer and support safety programs for all project personnel, ensuring alignment with company standards.
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting, root cause analysis, and closure of corrective actions.
  • Facilitate risk management processes, including AMS reviews, WRA assessments, and monthly TRA reviews with site leadership.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate safety documentation and reports, including internal and client reporting on weekly, monthly, and annual bases.
  • Deliver safety-related presentations during pre-starts, toolbox talks, and coordination meetings, promoting lessons learned and safety campaigns.
  • Support workers’ compensation and rehabilitation processes, ensuring compliance and timely resolution.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, recommending improvements for consistency and value.
  • Maintain strong relationships with project teams, clients, and regulatory bodies to foster a collaborative safety culture.
  • Ensure adequate PPE and safety equipment availability, including monthly audits of first aid kits and stock levels.
  • Participate in constructability and SiD reviews, providing input on safety risks associated with planned works.
  • Coach and mentor project personnel on health and safety practices, driving continuous improvement and compliance.
  • Support health and safety audits and inspections, addressing gaps and implementing corrective actions promptly.

To be successful in this key role we are looking for;

Qualifications

 

  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Quality, Environment, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • Safety Lead Auditor and Internal Environmental Auditor certifications .
  • Certificate IV in Environmental Management.

 

Experience

 

  • 3–6 years’ experience in HSE management within construction and/or tunnelling projects.
  • Strong understanding of HSE management techniques, tools, and best practices.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls.
  • Proven involvement in project delivery and implementation from a safety perspective.
  • Advanced proficiency in relevant computer software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email applications.
  • Ability to conduct, interpret, and report on audits and safety reviews.
