We are looking for a Human Factors Engineer to join our Human Factors capability within the Rail & Transport Business Unit, working on nation building projects. As a Human Factors specialist, you will become part of our well-established Rail Engineering and Integration (REI) team. 
 

With the diversity of the projects in hand your days would never be the same.. You will provide expert advice on human factors across our diverse projects and tenders in support of the rail and transport engineering safety and system assurance disciplines. You will ensure that effective identification of human factors risks and issues has occurred, as well as ensuring appropriate solutions to these risks and issues have been implemented across the lifecycle of the project to the satisfaction of client and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities of the role include:
- Provide subject matter expertise in human factors to the organisation and our clients
- Establish and ensure effective implementation of human factors on projects in alignment with relevant standards, requirements and guidelines, such as AS7470_2024.

- Engagement with stakeholders and regulatory bodies when required and participation in reviews, verification, validation and audits pertaining to implementation of Human Factors Integration across the lifecycle of the projects.
- Conduct, lead and facilitate all related Human Factors activities, such as developing HFIPs, conducting EHFAs and establishing and maintaining HFIRs.
- Provide human factors support to risk assessment workshops where required.
- Help support the delivery of design packages with input into the human factors’ aspects of the design.
- Support the development of safety risk management arguments required for safety and assurance cases.
- Provide input into the development and update of maintenance/operational procedures/plans
- Participate in railway operational readiness activities, including but not limited to input into the training needs analysis, user acceptance testing, HF support during commissioning, verification and validation requirements, post-implementation review and development of HF lessons learned.

To be successful in this key role, you must have

- Tertiary qualification in a related discipline
- 2+ years’ experience within the railway industry.
- Working knowledge of human factors related standards including ISO 9241; Australian lighting standards Australian Fire safety standards such as AS7470_2024, and PTV-NTS-013
