About John Holland

At John Holland, our purpose is simple – we transform lives with everything we do.

We’ve always known that infrastructure is about people — our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we work every day.

That’s our difference. Deep experience and capability with a genuine care about creating better lives for people along the way.

Be part of the team that’s up for the challenge of transforming lives for good.

Are you up for the challenge?

We are seeking a Senior Tax Advisor to join John Holland’s high performing tax team. Reporting directly to the General Manager Tax, this role offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of the group’s direct tax obligations within a complex, project driven environment. You will also gain exposure to both direct and indirect tax matters across John Holland managed joint ventures.

As the primary contact for direct tax, you will work closely with a broad range of stakeholders across the business, providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice to support informed decision making.

Working as part of a collaborative and supportive tax team of three, you will play a key role in strengthening tax governance, managing tax risk, and driving continuous improvement across group tax processes.

About the Role

  • Prepare and review corporate and partnership income tax returns, and joint venture BAS returns.
  • Support cross border tax matters, including transfer pricing, public Country by Country reporting, and Pillar Two compliance.
  • Deliver quarterly tax effect accounting calculations and prepare tax notes for statutory reporting.
  • Act as a key point of contact for direct tax related queries from Business Units and Corporate teams.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Tax Governance Framework in line with ATO guidance.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisers and auditors.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting, or Law.
  • CA or CPA qualified, or holder of a Master of Tax.
  • Substantial tax experience in a Big 4 or mid-tier firm, or combination with in-house tax role
  • Strong accounting capability, particularly in tax effect accounting and financial reporting.
  • Self motivated with the ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in the construction industry is desirable but not essential.
