About the Role

John Holland currently has multiple opportunities for experienced Project Engineers to join our project-based rail team in Auckland and Wellington.

As a Project Engineer with John Holland, you will be able to utilise your people, planning, technical and delivery skills. In addition, you will be joining a high functioning team of established engineers and managers

  • The coordination and administration of construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications.
  • Forecast works prior to delivery and provide budget status post delivery while monitoring construction progress for adherence to the programme.
  • Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports and monthly cost reporting.
  • Interpret designs and implementations in construction projects
  • Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions
  • Execute working knowledge of contractual and legislation relevant to the project
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environmental, and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes

To be successful in this key role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Building Construction, Science, or Equivalent
  • Engineering experience within a Project Engineer role more specifically focused on rail and signalling
  • Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specification, standards, and implications for project accountabilities
  • Understanding of the Project Design Management Plan, Quality Management Plan, Safety Management Plan, and Environmental Management Plan
  • Pre-contracts knowledge in relation to design, planning, and legislative requirements
  • Delivery of minor projects to program and budget specifications
  • Effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource management
