About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Construction Manager to join our WA Rail Team. The primary purpose of this role is to plan and deliver all relevant scopes of track construction work across a specific geographical area or functional discipline to ensure effective deliver of planned schedules within the planned time and budget.
Responsibilities of the role include;
- Oversee the overall on-site construction delivery on schedule with all stakeholder expectations met.
- Provide and take leadership responsibility in health, safety and environment management
- Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key people informed
- Managing industrial relations issues and implications and develop appropriate resolution
- Manage administrative duties for direct and indirect report requirements
- Ensure compliance in commercial and financial management including meeting budgets and identifying cost saving measures
- Provide leadership in risk management, identify and mitigate risks prior to works commencing, communicate with and engage relevant stakeholders to control risk and build a risk management culture.
- Utilise project planning skills to plan work, monitor implementation and effectiveness to achieve outcomes for whole of project life.
- Review progress against plans, contractual arrangements and delivery milestones to ensure they are on schedule and within quality and cost estimates and take remedial action as required.
- Review design documentation, read drawings, provide constructive review and oversee implementation of final designs
- Attend project review meeting with internal team and client
- Taking responsibility of preparation of tenders
- Ensuring quality of installation is performed in compliance with the requirements of the relevant specifications, codes and standards, which form part of the contract
- Contribute to, seek and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures
To be successful in this key role we are looking for
- Trade qualification or relevant Technical/Leadership qualification
- Minimum 8+ years of experience overseeing the construction, installation and commissioning of rail signalling systems.
- People and performance management of subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour
- Skill in review of design documentation, ability to understand drawings, provide constructability review and implement final design plans.
- Safety and environment management, resource management and construction program and methodology.
