We are currently looking for an experienced Power & Electrical Engineer to join our Rail Infrastructure team based in Spotswood . Reporting to the Rail Manager, the role will support our Rail Infrastructure Services business as well as John Hollands Major Projects. 

 

As our projects are spread across the East Coast of Australia, we are looking for people able to travel to support our portfolio of works as part of the role.

The successful candidate will provide onsite engineering services and technical support to ensure our programme of works is completed on time and within  budget. For this role there will be a requirement for nightshift as well as weekend work. Applicants must have strong people skills dealing with both colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities of the role include:
-Encourage the Project’s vision, purpose, ways of working, values, mindsets, and behaviours
-Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications
-Direct and supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety standards. Conduct detailed inspections, identify deviations, and initiate corrective actions
-Conduct and administer overall project  planning and programming including short range and intermediate activities for construction projects for approval by the Project Manager
-Financial management skills including demonstrated behaviour in reducing costs and meeting budgets
-Identify and assist in the management of Contract variations, including the identification of possible variations or changes to scope.
-Undertake cost controlling and estimating as required by Management
-Champion health and safety compliance, leading by example to promote a safe working environment. Conduct safety inspections and promptly manage safety-related issues.

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

-Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction, Construction Management or equivalent
-Minimum 1 – 2 years’ experience in Rail (Power & Electrical) or High Voltage industry sectors.
-Skill in use of document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance and procedures 
-Experience throughout the full project lifecycle for small to medium projects,

-Experience in HV/MV/LV electrical equipment, installations and applications, 

-Proven capability in reading and implementing electrical drawings, design documents, and technical specifications in a construction environment,
